week no.04 – fall
Unit1 | methods of cataloguing
18 oct – 25 oct
For methods of cataloguing I found interesting the Russian Theatrical Designs because it is a collection
that is almost 100 years old and displays a large variety of illustrations styles still present or reconfigured.
I started with TAXONOMY
but didn’t arrive to any new insight form which to continue.

Tried STRETCHING
interesting to find a connection between the images and fashion illustration. This took me to explore a small textile sample publication.
Categorising or RE CATEGORISING the images in relationship with what type of letter they looked like resulted in many interesting question of different paths i could continue. Like: exploring calligraphy or lettering, looking into non latin alphabets.

Google HIJACKING and RE-CONTEXTUALISING
I wanted to explore by putting the collection through the google search engine to see how the original collection could change in two contexts.
Hijacking by playing with word meanings and combinations. How the collection changes when the title is searched with small variations.

Recontextualise by searching how the collection would look today. A 2022 costume design
Creating Interesting parings, changes in aesthetic and reinterpretation of characters and costumes.

On this PDF I registered my thought and method process on detail, as well as feedback and conclusions that helped me move on for next week. (Feel free to download the doc since it doesn’t look that good on the website.)
